Weekeond Recap

Kristin had soccer on Saturday morning. She did pretty well. The other team must have been at least a year older though, so it was a pretty lopsided affair. Kristin is doing a better job getting into the play and not being afraid of the ball. There are still a few occassions that she hovers around the outside and 'bounces'... as in the photo. On the whole, she has really learned a lot and seems to really like soccer.

We celebrated my birthday after Kellen got up from nap on Saturday. Danelle and Kristin made me a cool hockey cake. White icing was the ice and they painted lines, goals, and faceoff circles with red and blue icing. It even has chocolate cookies shaped like penguins on top. Very nice.

Today Danelle took Kellen in to have blood work done in advance of his surgery next Thursday. Danelle said Kellen did very well. After nap, Danelle and Kellen went off to Kellen's last swim lesson for this session. Not too long after they got back, Kristin and I headed up to her elementary school so she could show me how well she does on those monkey bars. It was quite warm, so we didn't stay too long.

Early Summer

Well, it sure seems like summer here. It got to 90 degrees today and is supposed to stay in that area for highs for the next few days.

Kristin had a good day. At elementary school they got to go to an assembly... something about the 3 Little Pigs. I went to school a little early (for volunteering) to take Kristin to the Book Fair during recess time. After recess, the kids got to watch a recording of their performance last night. They also got to have popcorn! What a treat!!!

Kellen had a good day at daycare and is getting better about trying to go potty on the potty. He was against it for awhile, but appears to be coming around. :) Kellen helped me water again tonight. It actually felt pretty nice outside in the shade.

Happy Birthday Danelle!

We all had a wonderful day today celebrating Danelle's birthday. When I woke up Kristin this morning, she remembered her mommy's birthday and her 'performance' before she remembered to look and see if the tooth fairy came. Mommy rates pretty high I'd say.

After dinner Danelle got to open her presents. She really liked the present from Kristin... see the photo. Kristin picked out the frame and picked most of the pictures for it. She helped me print them and put them in the frame too.

After gifts, it was off to the elementary school to watch Kristin's Kindergarten performance. It was all the kids from the five kindergarten classes at the school... 106 kids! And their families! Kristin did a wonderful job singing all of the songs. We really enjoyed the performance. They did some familiar songs... all of the songs posted on the right, and some other fun songs and poems too.
After they were done singing, the kids got to come out to the audience and sit with the parents to watch a slideshow of the kids throughout the year. The teachers sure work hard - they had incorporated photos from camp Tilicum - and that field trip was just last week. Many of the photos Danelle took on the field trip ended up in the slideshow, so that was kind of neat to see. The last song that the kids sang was 'What a Wonderful World'. Indeed.

Tooth #6

Tooth #6 came out tonight with a little help from Aaron. The Tooth Fairy will be visiting again tonight. Kristin also got to that magical 100 times across on the monkey bars. She is very proud of herself!

Kellen had a normal day. He was a little clingy and cranky tonight before dinner. Later we got outside and he helped me water the garden and flowers again. He really likes being my water helper.

We are all looking forward to the Kindergarten program tomorrow night. :) 106 Kindergartners singing and reciting poetry. What fun!!!

A Happy Tuesday

Kellen looked bigger to me today. He did quite a lot of talking this evening too. He wanted to watch Elmo on TV, but there was a hockey game on, so he lost that battle. After dinner, he and Danelle went outside to water the garden and flowers. Kristin and I stayed inside to work on a project for someone's birthday. Kristin was a big help. Kellen had lot's of fun watering. He figured out the hose, but unfortunately for him it was pointed right at his face when he did. So he gave himself a good soaking.

Kristin has been telling us about a friend that she plays on the monkey bars with. She dind't know the girl's name for the longest time because she was in one of the other kindergarten classes and Kristin only saw her at recess. Well, Kristin finally learned her name today... Madison. Apparently Madison is an expert on the monkey bars. Kristin's monkey bar tally is up to 97. She informed me today that after she gets to one hundred, she will just 'do it for fun'. So I guess that means it's been all busines so far. Very cute that she set a goal for herself though.

Kristin the Fisherwoman

Yes, Kristin caught her first fish (rainbow trout) today!!! We went to Hornings Hideout today and met up with some friends for some fishing, salamander catching and picnicking. It was a lot of fun. Kellen had fun with a net. He didn't want to touch the salamanders but liked watching them in his bucket. Aaron and I had our hands full with Kellen... we thought for sure he would be in the pond as he just wanted to be right next to it with his net and splashing the net in and out of the water. Kristin and her friend Morgan had a fun time playing with salamanders... they both love to hold them. :) Matthew (3) was the first to catch a fish. Kristin was the next kid to catch a fish, so then Morgan wanted in the action and actually caught a fish. Our friend Mike was the only adult to catch a fish. HA! After all the fishing and playing we had a picnic lunch up on the lawn. What a gorgeous holiday to be outside.

(Like) New Truck

Another nice day. This morning we said goodbye to the elliptical machine. We haven't had room for it in the house for over two years and it was just collecting dust in the garage. I put it on Craigslist and got about 50 replies in about an hour, so it wasn't hard to get rid of.
During Kellen's naptime, Danelle and Kristin washed my truck while I did some work from home on the laptop. What a deal. They did a good job cleaning it. I'd forgotten how shiny it is when it's clean.
After Kellen's nap, Danelle took the kids on some errands while I edged and mowed the lawn. When they got back, Kristin said, 'Dad, we just went to Fred Meyers.' I said 'Really? You were gone for a long time.' Then Kristin said, 'Yeah just Fred Meyers. We didn't go to Home Depot or anywhere like that.' Hmmm... I guess with a birthday coming up, I should ask too many questions. Though I should have asked Kristin what it was that she didn't buy at Home Depot.

We grilled steaks, hamburgers, and hot dogs for dinner. They all turned out well. After dinner we went back into the yard for some playtime. Danelle let Kellen help water the garden and flowers with the hose. That was fun to watch. Kristin got involved too, and both kids had a good time.

The picture is of the kids playing with the tube tunnel this morning.

Zoo

We went to the zoo this morning. What a beautiful morning to go! As always, as we are leaving it is getting busy... even busier with the holiday weekend. The shuttle lot was already open. The kids had fun watching the animals. We got to see the eagles up pretty close today as they were in their nest, which is up near the viewing deck. The elephants were fun and it was good to see the baby elephant again.

This afternoon Kristin got to have her friend Courtney over for a playdate. They had a lot of fun. Kellen was even excited to see Courtney when he woke up from nap. Just as Courtney was leaving an ice cream truck came by. Courtney and Kristin both ended up with a popsicle. What a treat!

Friday at Last

Finally, the end of a long and busy week for us. Our weather has been absolutely perfect this week. Tonight we got outside for a walk and went up to the park at the school. Kristin had a hard time with the monkey bars there because she scabbed her hand pretty good at daycare today. She didn't have kindergarten, so her daycare class walked to a nearby elementary school and played on the playground. It was those monkey bars that got her. But she did tell us about two 'new friends' she met there. Emily and Emilia. 12 and 13 years old. Kristin seems to gravitate to the older kids in most settings.

She brought home some cool crafts from daycare too. One is a covered wagon. We'll have to get a picture of her showing it off and post it. It turned out really well.

Kellen had a good night too. He pulled the wagon for a bit on our walk. He kept saying 'no baseballs, no baseballs' since we didn't find any on our walk today. I doubt we'll find anymore until they cut the grass in the dicth again. I suppose I could bring my string trimmer up there...

Sounds like Kristin will have a play date tomorrow with her friend Courtney. She'll be really excited for that. No soccer on account of the Holiday weekend, so we may end up going to the zoo in the morning.

Camp Tilikum

Fieldtrip day!!! Kristin was so excited this morning. She got to ride the school bus to and from the camp. There were 5 stations. Once we got to camp Kristin's class got to start by fishing. Kristin didn't catch anything, but 3 of her classmates caught 2 fish and 1 salamander. The second station was Kristin's favorite... canoeing. Another mother and I had 3 girls in our boat. I had fun with that except for when 2 of the girls moved around on the boat... too rocky. :) The 3rd station was at the one room school house. The first picture is of Kristin's class on the steps of the one room school house. Kristin is silly in this picture. They got to play some games. One game was tug of war and after a few games of that the kids took on the parents and won. The 4th station was the tree house, which had a rope bridge (with a net) between both parts of the tree house. Kristin really liked that too and went across 3 times. The last station was a stop at the craft house to make a key chain and to take a hike. It was all fun and went by fast.

Aaron got to take Kellen in for an ear check up appointment this morning. Unfortunately, Kellen has to go back in for new ear tubes. June 10th looks to be the date for that surgery. He may also have his adenoids out, depending on what they see when they are in surgery. Joy! Hopefully it will make things better for him again.

Frisbee and Soccer Ball

Kristin gets to go on a class field trip to camp tomorrow (Thursday) with her kinergarten. She is super excited. Danelle is excited too, since she was able to rearrange her work schedule in order to go with. Last night Kristin and Danelle decorated brown paper lunch bags to take with them.

I worked a bit late tonight and so we didn't get out for our normal walk, even though the weather tonight was perfect. Looks to stay that way over the long weekend, what luck! Instead of our walk, we ventured into the yard for a bit. Kristin released her praying mantis into the garden. One of them didn't make it. Probably the cold last night - we had put the jar in the garage to avoid more rogue fruit flys. Kellen thought it was fun to throw pea gravel into the yard. And when we told him no, he switched over to garden soil. We tried to get him to kick the soccer ball around a little bit, but he was having fun with his mower.

After Kellen and Danelle went inside to start Kellen's bath, Kristin and I threw the frisbee for a little bit. She did pretty well with it.

Here is a picture of Kellen from last night. He was a tad enamored of the two little girls that came to visit.

Chilly Evening

Kellen continued learning about police officers today. They also talked about calling the police on the telephone. I guess it was interesting hearing the kids try to say telephone. After dinner Kellen got out Play-Doh while Kristin was busy decorating her lunch sack for her field trip this week.

Kristin (and us) got a surprise visit from some friends (kids of an ex co-worker of mine). They stopped by to drop of some keys for the office. The 2 girls and Kristin and Kellen had a lot of fun playing in the front yard. Lots of running, yelling and laughing. Kids! Kellen had fun playing with a blooming plant that is overhanging into our yard from the neighbors.

More Bugs

Kristin is learning a ton about bugs. At her daycare, they hatched praying mantises. Kristin brought home two of them in a gatorade bottle with supposedly flightless fruit flies. They may be flightless, but they are also experts at escaping from sealed gatorade bottles. I was holding the bottle looking at the two praying mantis and felt something creepy on my arm. sure enough, it was a fruit fly. No clue how it got out.

Kellen took a super long 3 1/2 hour nap at daycare today. Lucky him. This evening, he enjoyed playing with a plastic set of tools that he got for his birthday. He was practicing with the hammer and nails. The hammer is equiped to pull the nails, but Kellen prefered using his hands.

The kids were high energy tonight, but pretty well behaved nonetheless.

Busy Day

Today was another busy, but nice day. We started by going to church. When we got home I made lunch... a kid favorite... spaghetti. During Kellen's nap Aaron headed out to do some shopping and Kristin and I did some cleaning and played some card games. When Kellen woke up Aaron mowed the lawn and I took Kellen to swim lessons. Kellen had a lot of fun because he got to see his friend Daniel from daycare. They get a little shy at first seeing a friend outside of daycare walls... just out of place I guess. Kristin played out in the back yard after Aaron got done mowing. She likes this new freedom of playing in the yard without us being out there. Of course we can see her and she is good about checking in a lot. This evening we got out for a walk. No baseballs were found. That grass is getting so tall it is hard to look.

Back to it tomorrow. Kristin is getting excited for her Kindergarten field trip on Thursday. Should be fun!

Who Ya Gonna Call!?

Kellen tested out his new jet-pak super soaker today. It reminded us of the movie Ghostbusters. It's a pump-action system, and he figured it out pretty quickly.

We had a perfect sunny spring day here. Kristin had her soccer game this morning at 8:30. 45 minutes of practice followed by 45 minutes of game. During practice, Kristin won the red light green light game two out of 4 times. She had to be good at listening and dribbling the ball close to her. When they said red light they had to stop the ball quickly. The first one from one end of the field to the other was the winner. During the game, Kristin did pretty good. She's blessed with a non confrontational personality, but it seems to transfer over to sports. She's still learning that when the other team has the ball that it is OK to try to take if from them. But she's figuring it out.

Kellen had his two year old pictures taken while Kristin was playing soccer. Danelle said that it was a nightmare experience because Kellen just wouldn't cooperate. Danelle went back to the mall during his naptime to look at the pictures and they actually turned out pretty good. You'd never know he was a little devil the whole time.

I had a hockey game this afternoon and the family surprised me by coming out to watch. It was a good game to watch, as my team won 4-3.

Carnival

Tonight was the Sexton Mountain carnival... Kristin's school. We all went and had fun playing games. Kristin also got to go in one of the bounce houses and ate a snow cone. Kellen had his first ever lollipop and enjoyed that!

Kellen's new saying is "oh man." He'll be playing and will say "oh man" if something isn't working the way he wants it too. It is pretty funny.

The kids are tired from a late night at the carnival and so are Aaron and I. Time for bed.

You Can't Have Too Many Mowers

It didn't take the kids very long after dinner before they were picking on each other, so we decided to get them out for our walk a bit early. We ventured up to the elementary school, where they were having an open house. We didn't know about it, since Kristin goes to a different school. There were parents and kids everywhere. The weather was nice, so it was a fun atmosphere. We even ran into someone Danelle used to work with and his family. It was nice to see them again. So we stayed at the playground area for a little longer than normal and then headed to look for baseballs. Kristin was the eagle eyes and found one. Pretty impressive, since the grass is so high now.

Kellen wanted to pull the wagon, but he kept stopping to pick things up off the ground and point out all the bugs. We eventually had to put him back in the wagon in order to keep moving. When we were almost home, we ran into Megan, Kellen's godmother, who had stopped by to drop off presents for Kellen's Birthday. Kellen was very excited to see her and immediately started waving. He has a hard time pronouncing her name, and it comes out, "Hi Bacon, Hi Bacon!" Quite funny.

Here is a photo of Kellen test driving his shiny new mower, which he got from Bacon.

It's A Great Day for Hockey

It's a great day for hockey (for hockey). It's a hockey night, in Pittsburgh, PA! That's right folks, the Penguins pulled off a nice win tonight to move on to the next round of the playoffs! Click the link.

Kellen had his 2 year old check up today. He did really well and had a lot of fun interacting with his doctor. He also enjoyed eating a whole bagel for breakfast and we got to watch 2 people mowing the lawn at the doctor's office. What fun for Kellen!

Kellen's stats - 3 feet tall (WOW!) and 27 1/2 lbs.

Kristin had a good day. They have a western theme at daycare this week. She made a Sheriff badge today. Watch out, Sheriff Kristin might give you a ticket.

Here is another picture of Kellen opening gifts yesterday. This is the train he wanted opened right away.

And another!

The Big T-W-O

Kellen had a very nice birthday today. Danelle brought a bunch of fresh fruit into daycare this morning and Kellen's class got to enjoy a fruit tray to celebrate his birthday. He didn't seem to grasp the concept yet, but he really enjoyed all the attention today and loved opening presents!

Danelle made him a rainbow sprinkle cake and we sang Happy Birthday to him after dinner. He enjoyed learning how to blow out the candles. He was excited for the cake, 'CAKE, CAKE, CAKE', and the frosting was a big hit.

Kellen also loved opening the cards and presents (Thanks, everyone!). He especially liked a train that his sister got for him. He wanted to take that out of the package right away.

Kristin had a good day as well. I asked her what she did at kindergarten. It's always interesting to hear what she decides to talk about. Usually it has something to do with the monkey bars. Today she told me that she made some things at Creation Station (a craft table) for Kellen's birthday. How sweet!

Kellen wanted to push his little lawn mower around right away when we got home tonight. We let him do that for a few minutes before dinner. Probably good that we did since by the time we got through cake and presents it was time for bath already.

The photo shows Kellen sporting his new Cubs hat from Oma and Poppa while snacking on cheese just prior to bedtime.

We Say Goodbye to the 1's

Today we enjoyed Kellen's last day as a 1 year old. It is amazing to me how fast these past 2 years have gone. We are preparing for his birthday tomorrow. I made the cake and I need to wrap up the presents later.

Kristin had a good day today. She found another Scooby Doo book at the library today. She said she got to do the monkey bars and she is up to 30 times across. Go Kristin!

The Penguins lost tonight in overtime. :( One more game to decide the winner of this series. I took the kids on a walk up to the school for a little bit tonight. Kellen wanted to look for baseballs, but the grass is so tall so we just kept walking.

Happy Mother's Day

We tried to give Danelle a nice Mother's Dy today. Danelle slept in, and then opened her presents. We got her a new bird feeder for the back yard. The old was was just too hard to keep clean. The new one is a similar style as the old one, except that it has a removable base for easier washing. Danelle has taken down the old feeder a week or two ago. I'm not sure if the birds found the new one yet or not.

We headed out to brunch to a place called the StockPot Broiler. It's become something of a tradition for us. The brunch was outstanding, and the kids were well behaved and ate very well. Then it was time to head home so Kellen could take his nap. Kristin helped Danelle wash the car. I did some edging and mowed the lawn. Amazing how fast it grows in the spring. The grass had gotten pretty tall in just over a week and I had to stop quite a bit to empty the bag.

For dinner, I ran and picked up meals for Danelle and I from a new Thai restaurant in downtown Beaverton. It was pretty good, we'll probably order from there again sometime.

The photos are Kellen hamming it up just after Danelle opened her presents.

Catch Up

Friday... I spent a good portion of the day at Kristin's elementary school. It was Kindergarten Fly-Up day. So, Kristin got to go to 1st grade for most of her day and I got to go with her for part of it. Kristin got to listen to some silly animal poems, have a double recess (Kindergarten and 1st grade recess back-to-back), and do some math centers. Kristin and her class had a lot of fun. This is when they have the new Kindergarteners come visit for a little bit. I stayed after Kristin left to go to daycare and helped with recess duty. It was Teacher Appreciation week and that is what I signed up to cover. At least it was a nice sunny day.

In the afternoon, I headed to daycare for Mother's Day tea. Kellen made me two wonderful gifts with great pictures of him. My favorite is a picture of Kellen resting his chin on his hands... it is so cute! Kristin planted some flowers for me (marigolds). This afternoon we replanted the marigolds in a bigger pot since she got so many of her seeds to start. I also got many cards from Kristin and a Happy Mother's Day book made by her and her Kindergarten class. They each wrote a sentence or two about their mom and drew a picture of her. They even bound the books. How wonderful and fun to read! Kristin also made me 2 coupons, one for cleaning up the toys (living room she tells me) and one for cleaning up her room.

This morning Kristin had soccer bright and early, so she and I left the house shortly after 8am. She did great and had fun. Another lucky sunny day for soccer. Aaron stayed home with Kellen. This afternoon we headed to SE Portland for a BBQ for a friend's birthday. The kids had fun playing with all the other kids that were there and Aaron and I enjoyed the adult interaction.

More About Butterflies and Caterpillars

I picked up the kids from daycare this afternoon, and it was the first time I picked up Kellen from the new room. He's been spending more and more time in the new room - sounds like he was there most of the day today. He seemed really proud to show me around the room and point everything out to me. It was nice, because I didn't know where they keep the go-home logs in this room, but the board they are posted on was a stopping point on the little 'tour' Kellen gave me. He is really excited to have access to a little sink. He managed to hold one hand under the tap and then turn it on wide open with the other. It sprayed his face and shirt. He didn't seem to mind.

After I picked up Kellen, we went to Kristin's room to pick her up. Her class was playing outside, so we went out to get her. I put Kellen down to collect Kristin and hear about her day from her teacher. Kellen went right for the slide.

No rain this evening, so we took our usual walk. There was two baseball games goin on at the park. We found two baseballs. One new one in the ditch behind the backstop and one water logged one in the blackberries in the foul ball territory adjacent to the left field line.

Kristin's go home book was about butterflies. The sentence she wrote about it in her journal was something to the effect of 'I didn't know that catupltrs eat thar eggsail'. So then we talk about how to spell the words, but we don't worry about correcting them at this point. I explained that she actually spelled 'sail' instead of shell. She responded, 'oh, so maybe somebody could buy the eggs!'

Did I post this picture yet? I can't remember.

200 and Counting

Wow! We hit 200 blog posts yesterday. Aaron and I are tired... not from blogging, but from being up last night. Both of us had a hard time sleeping and Kellen has a cough again. Oh well.

Kellen had another great day at daycare with his transition. This morning he got to go on a fire truck and talk to 2 fire fighters. They evidently had a lot of fun with that.

Kristin was excited to tell me that she got to spend a little time with Kellen at daycare this afternoon. They made guacamole for an afternoon snack cooking project and to continue celebrating Cinco de Mayo. Sounds like most of the daycare got together. Kristin and Kellen's classes are both working on some Mother's Day art. I haven't seen the art, but Kellen had a purple hand today when I picked him up. The watercolors they used weren't as washable as they thought. That is okay, by the end of bath it was pretty much all off. :)

Now for some sleep.

Happy Cinco De Mayo!

Kristin made this awesome hat at daycare:
They also made a pinata today too. What fun!
This evening we managed to sneak in a walk between the rain storms. It's really been raining here lately. Not the usual Portland drizzle, but good old fashoned midwestern style rain storms. Anyway, we were surprised to find a Little Leage baseball game being played at the elementary school. They must play through the rain. We didn't find any baseballs tonight. We found a couple of baseballs, but they were old and rotten. Kellen pulled the wagon a good bit as well.
Kellen had another good day at daycare. His transition to the next classroom is going well as he spent most of the day there and didn't ask for his binki at nap time.

"Twenty-Tooth"

Kristin was excited to have had recess this morning on the playground (not restricted to under cover), since it was to rain all day. So, Kristin played on the monkey bars. She told Aaron tonight that she has gotten all the way across the school monkey bars "twenty-tooth" times. :)

At daycare, Kristin got to make a large sombrero for Cinco de Mayo. It is really neat. We will hopefully bring it home tomorrow, since it was raining pretty hard when I picked up the kids tonight.

Kellen spent most of his day in the Caterpillar room (next room for 2 year olds). He did really well, so he stayed for a good portion of the day. He even napped in there and without his binki!!! He didn't even ask for it.
Here is a picture from our trip last month to the tulip farm. What big feet you have Kristin!

An Open Door

This morning, Kellen managed to open the bathroom door while Kristin and Danelle were in there trimming Kristin's nails. Won't be long now probably until he is opening doors at will. So we've got that going for us, which is nice.

Danelle had lunch out with the girls to celabrate a birthday, so the kids and I took advantage and went out for a mother's-day errand. Kristin was very well behaved and a good helper, but Kellen threw and on-the-floor-kicking-and-screaming fit at the cash register. And I had just bought him a balloon, too. I suppose he didn't like the color or something. Or maybe he was tired and hungry. We got him home, he ate a good lunch, and then went right down for a nap.

Kristin and I picked up pine cones knocked out of the trees in the back yard by the storm yesterday. We collected two full 5 gallon buckets full.

We all went out for a short walk after nap time, but got rained on so we made it a short one. No hunting for baseballs today.

We must have worn out Kristin this weekend. This is her on the couch after bath this evening. She's watching a hockey game. :-) Earlier in the day, she asked me why the overtime was so long and aren't they supposed to do a shootout now? The rules are different in the playoffs I told her, but I was pleasantly surprised by how much she had picked up on the rules during the regular season.

Soccer with No Rain

We got away with no rain at soccer today. We did get a lot of rain today, just not during the 1 1/2 of soccer. Hooray!!! Kristin had a lot of fun with soccer. We all went to the practice/game. So, Aaron nicely took Kellen watch while I watched Kristin, since I missed the first round. Kellen found the long jump pits (big sand boxes) and was very occupied with wet sand. Oh well. He did sit and watch for awhile when we first got there and while he at his lunch later. Aaron and I decided that we will likely just take turns going to soccer with Kristin.

After Kellen's nap I took the kids to get their hair cuts in for the month. Kristin asked for 2 inches off (we did that last time too). So, her hair is just past her shoulders. She was happy about it. We also headed to the store before we came home. Aaron had a hockey game tonight and they won! After dinner we headed outside for a little bit to clean up the front yard from the storm that hit with pounding rain and wind while we were getting hair cuts. There were plenty of sticks for Kristin to pick up. Kellen and Kristin both helped me with some sweeping of the driveway and sidewalk. Then it was popcorn time. So we headed in for popcorn and watched Elmo (Kellen actually will watch a little Elmo on TV now). Good for a short distraction. Kristin watched a little bit of a Scooby Doo movie while I gave Kellen a bath. Aaron made it home before bedtime and the kids were excited to see him and Kristin was happy he won his game.

Another Busy Day with Lots to Report

Kellen's eyes were much better today. We caught it early enough I guess. He was even able to go to daycare today.

Kristin's kindergarten class let the butterflies go today. She said one of them just went straight to the ground and rested - she said it must not have known how to fly.

Our walk this evening was quite eventful. Kellen wanted to take his lawn mower along, so we let him. We brought the wagon along as a precuation. He made it all the way to the elementary school pushing and dragging his little lawnmower. Then it was a race to the slide for Kellen and the monkey bars for Kristin. After that, we headed toward the trail behind the backstop of the baseball field. There was a little league practice going on, and there were baseballs everywhere. Kristin scoured the drainage ditch behind the backstop and found 4 baseballs. I found 2. We threw three of the balls to the team practicing. They didn't seem too concerned with us, and we never saw any balls fouled off to our area, so we didn't think the balls were theirs. A little further on the trail, behind another ball field, Danelle caught the bug and dug a baseball out of the blackberries. While we were on the trail, Kellen insisted on pulling the wagon (with his lawnmower in it).
Here's a picture of Kellen enjoying a brownie for dessert.
