Kellen Started T-Ball

Tonight Kellen started T-Ball! He has been excited, especially since dad came home with a blue shirt for him. He loves blue, so to be on the blue team is super cool! Kellen did great and had a lot of fun. We even got some thumbs up from him during the 30 minute practice and 30 minute game. Go Kellen!

Here is a picture of the kids riding on a little kid train ride while we waited for our turn to take a ride on Thomas on Saturday.

Camp Week

Wow! The week has flown by with day camp for Girl Scouts this week. It has been lots of fun for Kristin, Kellen and I. One more day to go, and from what we hear tomorrow is to be the fun and crazy day, almost like a carnival. More on that later.

Let's see.... today Kristin finished up her badge work and gave a little skit with frog puppets they made to another Brownie troop. Unfortunately, I couldn't go and watch, but could kind of see from across the meadow. My group also finished up their badge work and we took our "day" hike. You cannot take 12 girls Kristin's age on a whole day hike, but a morning hike works well. They did great and we had a lot of fun exploring the camp and trails. Kellen got to have fun painting with chocolate pudding (and ate some too of course!). It was funny to hear that he and the other boy his age didn't want to finger paint with the pudding, but would use a popsicle stick to paint with. Funny boys!

Wednesday was a hard day for all 3 of us and really everyone at camp. That third day is hard as everyone is tired from the first 2 days. We made it through and even had fun. I know Kellen had fun looking at some snakes. YUK! Kristin was singing camp songs on the way home and in the shower... this has been most of the week. I think this is one of her favorite parts of camp. :) Kristin also got to make ice cream!

Tuesday was the warmest day of the week and got into the 80s. Made for a nice day at camp. Kellen got to play with little toys in a kiddie pool (like we have in our backyard). He shooed me away when I went up to visit... I think he thought I might take him away from water play, which would be his most favorite thing to do these days! Kristin got to work on puppets for her troop's skits that were today. I was wishing I had shorts on that day, but with all the stinging nettle around camp it was best to be in jeans. I think it was either 7 or 8 of the girls in my group (total of 12) ended up touching stinging nettle with their legs on Tuesday on one of our little hikes. It is everywhere and you really need to stay in the middle of the path in many places. The girls were too busy talking at times to pay attention. They learned quick and stayed out of it the rest of the week... so far anyway. ;)

Girl Scout Camp

Today, Kristin, Kellen and I started Girl Scout (Day) Camp. The weather was good... not rainy and we all had fun. Kristin was lucky and got in a group with 2 of her friends from our actual troop. :) The girls are having a lot of fun together. Oh, and Kristin's camp name is Rootbeer.

Kellen wasn't thrilled with me this morning when I took him to his camp. He gets to be indoors a portion of the time and has potties that flush... unlike the rest of us. He was shy, but warmed up quick. At the end of camp today while we sat around singing songs, Kellen told me he "loves" camp. He really took a liking to the 2 PAs (teenagers) in his camp..... Navy and Cookie. There is also another little boy in their his same age. So all turned out well.

Kristin even had soccer practice tonight. As I sat there watching her I was so tired and ready to go to bed and she was out there running around full of energy. Where do they get all that energy? Oh well, she should sleep really hard tonight. :)

Bring on summer!!!

End of Second Grade

Way to go Kristin for finishing second grade! On to third grade in a few short months. Kristin is sad that school is over, but I think we will keep busy enough with camps, swim lessons, soccer, playdates, etc. to keep her interested in summer. :)

Here is Kristin with her 2nd Grade teacher at the end of the last day of school.

School is Wrapping Up

Wow... time has been flying by. We have been busy with soccer, softball, and the end of the school year the past couple weeks. There is so much that has occurred since my last post (apologies) that I don't know where to start. So, I guess I will talk about more recent events.

Only 3 days of school left for Kristin in 2nd grade! It is hard to believe she is almost half-way done with elementary school. It seems impossible. Camp-Learned-A-Lot is going well at school and Kristin is loving getting mail each day from family and friends. Today's theme was pajama day. Kellen liked that idea and opted to also have pajama day. :) Tomorrow is mismatch day, so that should be fun to see all the wacky outfits.

Yesterday, Kristin had a birthday party for a friend in her class. The party had a Hawaiian theme and she had a lot of fun. A giant pinata and a trampoline... what isn't fun about that!!! In the morning Kellen had a playdate with his friend Joshua. Kellen and Joshua have been buddies since they were babies at daycare. Since we no longer go to that daycare the boys miss each other. Kellen and I do see Joshua once a week at Tumble Bus. Kellen was excited to have his friend over and he is already making plans for the next playdate. :)

Saturday Kellen started skating lessons again. He wanted to go in the morning, but once he got on the ice his pouty face came out. A few minutes in, we got him smiling and chasing down some dinosaur puppets the arena has for lessons.

Here is a picture of Kristin during her last softball game. :)

We're Back

What a fun, but way too quick trip to Missouri! Congratulations to my brother and his new wife!!! Welcome to the family Samantha! The kids are super excited to have a new Aunt. :) The trip went well and we were able to see family and a good friend (Kristin's Godmother). We even got some yummy KC BBQ in our tummies. YUMMY!!! We even learned there are armadillos living in southern Missouri! I have never seen so much road kill anywhere. Armadillos must not be the brightest creature.
