Weekend Update

Yet another busy weekend for us. Kristin had a booth sale for Girl Scout cookies at the local Albertsons grocery store on Saturday while Kellen and I had skating lessons in Sherwood. Sounds like the girls did very well selling cookies. Normally they would have been outside the store at the entrance, but since the temperature was in the 20s, the store manager let them set up the booth inside the store. Thank goodness, since the booth was open for 4 hours. That would have been a long time in the cold.

Kellen did awesome at his skating lessons. He is a lot more comfortable with his 'marches' and 'swizzles'. This will probably be the last session he needs to do the parent-n-me class. He should be able to go up to the next level by himself next session.

Kristin had her first soccer match of the season. Her team is U8, meaning the girls are 8 or under. Unfortunately, her club was the only one that registered a U8 team to the league, so they will be playing against U9 teams. The girls played well, but still fell 4-0. Should be an interesting season - hopefully the girls still have a lot of fun.
Here are a couple of pictures of the family clowning around earlier this evening. Danelle even got in on the fun:

Snow Day

That's right, Kristin had a snow day today. No school! Crazy how a little amount of snow (about 3/4 inch at our house) can stop school. I guess those who live up on Cooper Mountain must have gotten enough to make it too hard for the buses to get up there. Kristin was bummed since it was supposed to be Matching Day today. We are planning on it being tomorrow, so she is ready to wear her matching items.

As for the snow, it was perfect to play in for about 1 hour and then it quickly melted away. The kids made snowmen and yes, Kellen got to make his snow castle! They even had fun making some snow angels in the backyard.

Napkin Helper

When I got home from work yesterday Kellen was excited to tell me that he was the napkin helper at daycare. They rotate little 'jobs' for the kids but since he is only there one day a week, his number doesn't come up very often. He was super proud of his job.

We've had snow in the forecast for this week, but so far all we've gotten is flurries. It was supposed to hit today, but now they are saying overnight. We'll see. Before bedtime last night, Kellen told Danelle that he will make a big pile with the snow and he wants Danelle to make 'sand castles' with it. Danelle explained to him that they could use the same bucket as for sand castlets, but that it would be a snow castle. Today he is still saying that he will build sand castles in the snow. He was really little the last time we made it to the beach.. I wonder if he even remembers what sand is?

Kristin is excited for 'matching' day at school tomorrow (weather pending). She is going to wear the same shirt as one friend and the same hair band as another. Fun!

Birthday Party Weekend

Another busy weekend for the Isenhart household. On Saturday, Kellen had a birthday party for a friend from daycare. Kellen had a lot of fun bouncing and sliding at Pump It Up. Before the party, Kellen had his ice skating class. Kristin and I went to watch Kellen skate and he had improved a lot in the past few weeks since I last saw him skate.

Sunday was Kristin's turn for a birthday party. She had fun laser (in the dark) bowling at Big Al's. The party was also a costume party and she dressed up in her Dorothy outfit. The birthday girl was totally dress up from the 80's and it was awesome!

Aaron had work off today due to the holiday. This morning we headed out to Chuck E Cheese's to spend some money from Valentine's Day... thanks Oma and Poppa! The kids had a great time playing games, and you might have seen Aaron and I playing a couple games like skee-ball and basketball. :) This afternoon Aaron and I took turns running some errands. While I was out, Aaron took the kids up to the school to play and for Kristin to ride her bike. Now back to the regular week of work and activities.

Soccer Practice in the Snow?

Danelle has Kristin at soccer practice right now. The practice is outdoors under the lights on an artificial turf field. Danelle sent me a text that said it was snowing! That's dedication for ya.

Kellen and stayed home since he's had a cold in addition to the pink eye, which has actually cleared up tremendously after getting the antibiotic drops. We've been watching Cars for about the 800th time while the girls are at soccer. Kellen is going to be excited when the sequel comes out this summer.

We're looking forward to a busy weekend of skating and birthday parties for the kids to attend. Kellen is going to one on Saturday and Kristin is going to one on Sunday.

I took the day off today and hung out with Danelle and Kellen. We went to Tumble Bus in the morning. He sure has a good time with that. I was also able to drop Kristin off for school and pick her up too. It was nice to have some time away from the office, even though I spent a few hours working from home. I should know better than to check my work email on a day off. :-)

Pink Eye

Well, Kellen woke up yesterday with his right eye stuck shut with crud. Poor guy! Pink eye it is and he is doing pretty good with the drops. He woke up this morning and could open both eyes, so we are happy about the quick improvement there.

Kristin had Girl Scouts last night and we practiced for cookie booth sales which we will be doing next weekend. The girls did a great job with their manners and making change! Now to finish getting rid of the cookies in the house that need to be delivered.

Oh, it also snowed here yesterday! It actually stuck to the grass for about an hour and made the roads slushy on the way to take Kristin to school. I actually had snow/slush fall off my car in the garage... I haven't seen that in forever and Kellen was asking what that was. :)

Happy Valentine's Day!

Happy Valentine's Day Everyone!

So here is a recent picture of Kellen. For some reason, it reminds me of Ralphie from 'A Christmas Story'. I can imagine someone saying "A BB Gun? No way, you'll shoot your eye out kid!" And then Kellen replying "No I won't. I have goggles on!"

We finally put up the kids' growth charts again. We hadn't put them up since we moved. Both of the kids have grown about an inch since we moved in last September. I suspect that Kellen grew more than that. At the old house, the growth chart was secured to the wall with a ribbon that had strecthed out, causing the chart to sink lower down the wall. At any rate, he's still in a high percentile for height - somewhere around the 75% mark.

Kristin's Girl Scout troop went to a retirement home on Sunday to deliver some Valentines. Danelle said all the girls were wonderful and did a great job. Here's a picture of them afterwards:

Get well soon Grandpa J!

Busy Week of Activities

With Valentine's Day coming up the kids have been busy getting cards ready for all of their friends and for family too. Monday, Kellen and I headed to the pool in the morning. Kellen had a lot of fun since this pool is shallow enough for him to walk in. It also has a water slide. I took him down the slide a few times and then he went by himself. The only thing I had to do was stand at the end of the slide and catch him. :) He LOVED that!

On Wednesday, Kristin started a new after school club called Book Making. It will be fun to see what she comes up with during this club. She brought home a book already that is really cute made out of paper bags and scrapbooking paper. Something about Valentine's Day and she needs to write poems... more work for next week I guess.

This morning Kristin wanted to join the walking school bus, which is done every Thursday morning. The group walks right by our house so it is super convenient. Kristin got herself ready early and we met the group at the corner and she walked to school with other kids, a teacher and some parent volunteers. She said this was the best part of her day! Way to go Kristin! She walked quite a bit further than my 3 1/2 block walk to elementary school when I was her age.

Bike Rider

We spent about an hour at the playground of Kristin's school yesterday. Kellen played on the play equipment and Kristin practiced on her bike. She picked up right where she left off last week. She's now riding as if she's always known how. She had a really good attitude about learning and picked it right up. Way to go Kristin! Here she is riding again today. We have a little cul-de-sac a couple houses up the block that is pretty good for practicing.

Kellen started the next session of parent-n-me skating lessons on Saturday. He is having fun with it and I can tell that he is feeling more and more comfortable on the ice every week.

Choo Choo Car?

Yesterday on our way to the library from some other errands, Kellen declared that the car was a train! He said that he will make the whistle "choo choo" sounds and I got to make the "chugga chugga" sounds. :) When we would stop at a light, Kellen would say people were getting on and off the train. We actually saw one of the light rail trains during this fun adventure and he noticed that people were actually getting on and off that train! Kellen said, "look mama, the people are getting on and off the train just like our train." Such a fun adventure. It is fun to watch his imagination grow!

Kristin had Girl Scouts last night. The girls made valentine cards for residents at a retirement community. We will deliver them on the 13th. This is always a fun activity for the girls, so we are looking forward to the 13th. The girls did a great job and made almost 70 cards last night and they look great!
