Photos from Trip - Ames Edition

Here is Kellen and Kristin playing in a puddle (we don't get many puddles in OR I guess) so this was very fun for the kids for about 10 minutes. Yes, Kellen was jumping in it and then decided to put his head in it. Crazy kid!

Kellen the Builder... mom you aren't doing that right. HA!

Kristin and her new friend Bailey. :) You can also see Kellen and Papa playing with Tonka trucks in the rocks... a favorite for Kellen.

All Aboard! Kristin and Kellen sitting on the steps of one of the trains at the Boone & Scenic Railroad.

We're Back!

We're back! We must have brought the heat with us too. Yesterday it was up in the 90's and today approached 90. Nothing like that Iowa sauna though!

Yesterday was a catch-up day around the house - mowing, groceries, mail, etc.

Today this kids built some cool tracks with the train set in the living room. I was late coming home from work (catching up there too) and Kellen wanted me to play with the trains as soon as I got home. Kellen and Kristin then both showed off their creations.

This evening Danelle got the sprinkler out for the kids. I enjoyed watching the kids while lounging in a yard chair. For some reason, Danelle weeded the yard under the big pine trees. I told her she should send a bill to our landlords. ;-)

Here's a picture of Kellen holding a real live dead snake that he found on the driveway at Great Grandma and Grandpa Isenhart's house.

Summer Heat Wave

Well, the heat is here... 96+ degrees today. Currently still 80 degrees. Whew! The kids and I ran some errands today. One errand was to get the kids hair cuts done. Kristin wanted her hair shorter for the first time. She loves her new do. Mom and Dad are adjusting to her new hair cut, but we like it too.

Got my car back today! Not sure if Kellen or I was happier to have it back. Kellen hated the rental car we had... it was smaller than our car and white not blue. Bumper is replaced with nice new paint and looks great.
Tonight we got to go over to a friend's house and have a BBQ. Long time Kristin friend since they were babies. The kids had fun even in the heat. They even got to have snow cones after dinner. What a treat! Hopefully they sleep well tonight. :)

Hide-n-Seek!

Kellen asked to play a game of hide and seek this evening after dinner. He's got the concept down great, but the giggles are a bit of a tell! Of course, the giggles are what makes it fun for mom and dad. When it's his turn to count, it's hard to tell if he's skipping a few because he wants to get the jump on looking or if he's just not that practiced at counting to ten. We know he can count to ten, so we'll go with the excitement theory.

Today was a good day to be outside, and that's where the kids were for most of the day. Kristin had a playdate for a good portion of the day, and the kids all got along great. They got out the sidewalk chalk, and we also used the sparklers. The girls took to making 'potions' with water, chalk, dirt, leaves, lavender flowers, cherries from the tree, etc.

We're supposed to get warm the rest of the week. We don't have the window air conditioners in, so hopefully it'll cool down in the evenings!

Happy 4th

This morning we woke up to Kristin saying "happy Independence Day." Cute! We had a low key day today at home. The kids got to see what snakes (firework type) were all about. Kellen really liked them. Kristin really liked the Pop-Its that she could throw at the ground and they would make a popping noise. We grilled for dinner too.

Happy Birthday America! God bless all those whom have served and are serving our country.

Limbo!

Kristin has been at daycare 'camp' this week. They have had a fieldtrip to Bullwinkles Family Fun Center (Kristin liked the mini-golf), PumpItUp, where they have lot's of inflatable bounce-house type things to play on, and a trip to Out of This World, which has McDonald's style playhouses, only they are about 10 times bigger. Her favorite part of today was playing Limbo with her friends.

We have a pretty low-key weekend planned. Kristin is attending a birthday party Saturday morning, and we're hoping that a few more houses come on the market early next week for us to look at. I suppose I should mow and edge this weeked, but the motivation has certainly passed. :-)
