Oregon never ceases to amaze us. On Monday, we set out for central Oregon. Sisters, Oregon is just three hours from Portland. On the way there, we drove past Detroit Lake. It's a man-made lake built for hydro power. The reseviour created by the dam is huge and set in the foothills of the Cascade Mountain range. We reached Sisters by midday, checked into the hotel, and then took a short drive to a place called Camp Sherman. Nearby is the source of the Metolius river. The river literally bubbles up from the ground and water pours from the sides of the riverbank into the river.

| The trail to the head of the Metolius was an easy walk. This sign is stationed at the trail head. |

Wizard Falls Fish Hatchery is located just a little ways downstream. While we had made the trip to see the head of the river, it was the view from the bridge at the hatchery that stole the show. I've never seen water that shade of blue. As it was a hatchery, the kids got to feed a bunch of fish too.
We ended the day with a nice meal at a restaurant in Sisters. We ate out on their back patio, but on the way out, Kellen noticed a model train hung from the ceiling on the inside of the restaurant. Kellen, ever the negotiator, sweet-talked the proprietor into turning it on.
