T-Ball Season Ends

Tonight was the last night of t-ball for Kellen. He was bummed because his coach (Coach Michael) couldn't be there today. The kids took to him really quick. Coach Leslie did an okay job with the kids tonight.

Here are some pictures from Oaks Park and amusement park that I took the kids to early on in July. The first 2 are from the ride called Frog Hopper. The last is from the little train ride that goes through part of the park.

Visit from Nana and Papa

We had a nice visit from Nana and Papa last week (or so)! The kids had fun learning some new songs and riddles from Nana. Yes, they are still singing those songs and telling those jokes. :) Fun to listen too. They both learned them really fast and can even correct you if you forget a portion of the song... right Nana?

During their visit we got to go to the zoo and took them up to Horning's Hideout. The weather was pretty cool and even rainy while they were here, so they enjoyed that from the icky hot and sticky weather in Iowa. While at Horning's Hideout we had lots of fun catching salamanders of course, but really enjoyed watching the osprey catching fish. Nature at it's finest!

Here is a picture from early in Kellen's t-ball season, but I think it is funny... the kids are lining up. It still looks like this even though they have been doing this for weeks now. :) The other picture is me playing with the camera... trying to use my photography lessons. Lots of honey bees in the clover around here.

Swim Test

WOW! Way to go Kristin! Kristin had a swim party today for a friend's birthday party and she and a few friends took the swim test so they could go off the diving board. Kristin passed on her first try! She was very proud of herself and very excited to be able to jump off the diving board with her friends. I have to say that I was very proud too watching her. :)

This evening we had a BBQ to attend for Aaron's hockey team. We all had lots of fun. Luckily there are lots of other kids between all the members of the team, so our kids were busy and had lots of fun playing.

Oaks Park

This afternoon I took the kids to Oaks Park, an old amusement park in Portland. Aaron had a great idea yesterday for us to meet him at a park by his work for lunch today. So, the kids and I met Aaron for lunch at Sellwood Park. After lunch, the kids and I headed down the hill to Oaks Park for some rides and games. We all had a lot of fun! Kristin had been there once before on a daycare field trip, so she was familiar with the park. Kellen and I had been there, but only to the roller rink for the girl scout party earlier this year. It was fun for me to watch the kids have so much fun on the rides. Kellen found out he likes roller coasters! We also rode the old carosel that turns 100 years old next year. Runs great! Another big hit with the kids was the giant slide that you sit on little carpets and slide down the bumpy slide. Lots of fun! The kiddos and mom should fall asleep quick tonight. ;)

Summer!

The Isenhart Summer of Fun is upon us. We've been enjoying the weather lately and spending a lot of time outside. Earlier this evening Kellen and I played outside at home while the girls were at soccer practice. Kellen had a great idea to play with a couple squirt bottles. He won the water fight. As evidenced by him only having a wet front and me having a wet front and a wet back. He never retreated and had no problem with shooting me in the back. :)

Kellen is also enjoying T-Ball and having an activity that is all about. Now it's Kristin that has to tag along. At least for T-Ball. It is an introductory league through the local parks and rec. It has a short 5 week season. I've been helping coach. We're pretty sure that Kellen will bat lefty at this point. The other coach lined him up on the right-handed side and after a few swings into the middle of the tee we turned him around and he drilled it down the third base line on the first swing. He usually bats left at home so I'm not sure why he was on the other side anyway. He probably was just watching the kid who batted before him and went to the same place.
