Wow, seems like life accelerated over the last couple of weeks. We celebrated Kellen's fifth birthday on the 12th. He wanted a bowling party like Kristin had, so we hosted the party at Big Als. It was fun to watch Kellen and his friend have fun with the ramps and bumpers. And the boys really like to clamor around when the presents are being opened. Lots is excitement for sure. Kellen really enjoyed telling people that it was going to be his birthday and now he likes telling everyone that he is !five!
We celebrated Mothers Day with our traditional brunch at a local restaurant. That was a good time since we went with another family and also ran into another family that we know.
Yesterday we hosted a BBQ for Kristin's soccer club. We figured that we had at least 65 people at the house. It was a lot of work to prepare for but it went very well. We had been having wonderfully sunny weather for two weeks but woke up to rain yesterday. Luckily it stopped about an hour or so before the guests arrived.
In between the big events we've been busy with softball. Kristin is playing on one team and has been a guest player on another. For only having played one season prior to this one, she sure has picked it up quickly. She seems to thrive on competition. In school she did well on both the state math and reading tests. She is exceeding grade level expectations for both.
Kellen continues to be our happy boy. He is tearing around on his bike. I won't be surprised if the training wheels come off this summer. He is closing in on the end of preschool. I can tell he will miss it terribly but he'll also love kindergarten too. Hard to believe he'll be there in September already.

Sunshine
The sun has decided to grace us with its presence this week... all week! We even had shorts on yesterday. I guess the kids are in shorts today as well. :) It will be a nice night for a softball game.
Meeting the puppies went great. They are super cute and were fun to watch. We were the first family to come visit the puppies, so some of them were nervous, but eventually warmed up to us. We have narrowed it down to 2 girls that look very similar (puppies that Kristin and Aaron are holding). One of the girls has a longer sock on one of her front feet. Either of which will be a great addition to our family. They are both super sweet and of course very cute. Kellen really liked the white puppies too. So now we are working on figuring out a name. We all had a fun time meeting the puppies and playing with them. They are only 4 weeks old, so they tired out very quickly.
On Sunday we also had Kristin's bridging ceremony for Girl Scouts. My troop (all 11 girls) bridged to Junior Girl Scouts from Brownies. Way to go Kristin and girls!
Now we are getting ready for Kellen's birthday and party on Saturday. It is hard to believe he is going to be 5 years old in 4 days.

Puppies!
We found out today that the puppies are old enough for us to visit and interact with them. We plan to drive down to see them on Sunday. They are on an acreage west of Salem. Very excited!
Kristin is having fun playing softball. So far only one of her games has been rained out. . She even got to be a guest player on another team for a game last week. We know tat coach from church and they were short players so Kristin got to jump in and play an extra game.
Kellen continues to be a trooper for all of Kristin's games. He loves being outside and is a happy camper if their is a playground, or even just a place he can dig in the dirt with his shovel and pail. We have him signed up for Tball and intro soccer this summer. He is also taking swim lessons right now.
Both kids are excited to visit the puppies this weekend!
