Reading to Kellen

Today was my day to get up with the kids, and they both slept in for me. Kellen got up a little after 7:30 and Kristin rolled out of bed a few minutes after 8am. Kellen and I were hanging out on the couch and Kristin came over to join us. Kellen was haning out in my lap for some rare cuddles. Usually he is constant motion. Then Kellen got down and went after a couple of his favorite books: The Foot Book, and Mr. Brown Can Moo, Can You? Kellen brought the books over to Kristin, and to my surprise, Kristin read him The Foot Book. She did a good job with the words and Kellen actually stayed put to listen. It was quite the sight. She then took a stab at the other book, but it proved a more challenging, both for her vocabulary and for Kellen's attention span. All this before my first cup of coffee!

During Kellen's nap time, Kristin and I watched the hockey game and Kristin worked on wiggling her front tooth that's been super loose for about three weeks. All of the sudden I heard, 'Dad, I got it!' She showed me her tooth, along with a big red grin. It bled for a short time, but that didn't seem to bother her. She was just so excited to get it out.

This afternoon we all did and errand to Target, where Danelle was excited to find Sweet Tarts Ducks, Chicks and Bunnies Easter candy. They're her favorite. She'd been having trouble finding them this year. Kristin and I picked out some chocolate.

Got the lawn mowed this afternoon. It had been raining but the sun came out about noon and it was very windy, so it dried out just enough to get the lawn mowed for the first time this spring. It started raining right after I finished. We then headed over to Red Robin for a family dinner. Kristin did well, though Kellen seemed more interested in people watching. The balloons were a big hit on the way home, though Kellen's popped already when he was rough-housing with Kristin. I thought there'd be tears, but he took it like a champ.
